LONELY STREET
April 2020
Okay, well, it's about time. I've tried my hand at recording and self-producing an album of country/folk tunes, and it's called LONELY STREET. The tunes are hand-picked gems that I've grown to like over the years while practicing on my pedal steel guitar. The title song was made popular by Andy Williams in the 1960's. It's not really a country tune, but I heard it recently on an old George Jones album and made a stab at singing it here. There are songs by Willie Nelson, Ry Cooder, Hank Williams, Rodney Crowell, Billy Joe Shaver, and even one by The Grateful Dead.

This album is an assortment of cover versions of eleven tunes from classic country and folk-rock artists. In some ways, it's an homage to songwriters, singers, and players who have shaped my musical interests.

I took the cover photograph several decades ago while visiting family in rural Kansas. I was intrigued by the STOP sign, which was yellow with black print. I hadn't seen one like that before. Susanna Hamilton, a graphic designer (and my daughter) in the Boston area, used the photo to create the cover art and text.
